I want to thank all of you who have been kind enough to write to tell me you enjoy my books. It's always a pleasure to hear that characters who have intrigued me have also intrigued you, or that plots which caught my imagination caught yours, too. And I love it when you ask me questions about what happened to characters after the end of the book. I know then that I really hooked you!

In a different way, it's even more rewarding as a writer to hear from someone who tells me that my books have kept them entertained during a bleak or testing time in their lives. Readers have written to say that my books helped keep their minds off cancer treatments, family problems, and even the burden of caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's. So thank you again for writing. I do enjoy your letters even if the pressure of deadlines means that it sometimes takes a while before I can manage to reply.
